What Did I Do This Summer Vacation?

School starts this week, and so I am compelled to think about this last summer and think about what I did with my summer vacation. It went by so fast I think this is a good time to really pause for some reflection instead of just complaining that summer is over.

Ethan and I spent a great deal of time together at Thanksgiving Point. We enjoy walking around the gardens and also at the Dinosaur Museum. Although we have only been to the museum once, we plan on going there more once the weather turns colder.

E
than took golf lessons, which he quite enjoyed, and he also took three weeks of swimming lessons. And even though the back stroke is his nemesis, he is determined to continue with them next year. Ethan also spent a lot of time riding his bike at the skate park.

W
e have also indulged ourselves at Seven Peaks as anyone can see by our disgustingly golden tans -- although Ethan and I our were born with head starts in this area whereas Jonathan was not. Thankfully, Ethan is mostly over his racial identity crisis and no longer thinks he is black. There was a moment at the 4th of July parade when we thought his crisis hit the pinnacle, though. And that was when Abe Lincoln drove by and Ethan excitedly shouted, "I'm free! I'm free!"

I went to California to visit a friend while Ethan and Jonathan gallivanted all through the East Coast. While in California I went to the beach, Knotts Berry Farm and pretty much ate myself into oblivion. In other words it was the perfect vacation.

All in all, I have been blessed with a great summer vacation. I spent time with my family -- my little one and my amazing extended family. I was able to spend time with great friends. And I feel mostly rested to start up a new school year.
