I Forgot to Mention...

...yesterday on our way to school, Ethan -- who likes to chat it up while sitting in the back seat of the car, by the way, has decided what he wants to be when he grows up:

An Inventor
(Andrew, if you read this, you might want to consider this in your pursuit of a major)

Anyway, he came upon this decision when he visualized his latest invention: A Camaro with arms. Of course, realizing that such a beast could be deadly in any civilians hands, he would only invent such a monstrosity for our own United States military and install a button that would sound out the deadly call, "Hiiiii-Yaaaahhhh!!!!!" to scare off the enemy.

Of course, I think this is brilliant.

After a short pause, Ethan went on to say that he has made a startling self-discovery: "Mama, I'm a great catch for a girl!" I had to smile real big in order to stop myself from laughing, because although I do think he would be a great catch for a girl, it does sound funny to hear this from a nine year old.

"Obviously, you're a great catch Ethan, but what made you realize that?"

"Well Mama, I can invent anything for a house. Anything she wants to have arms, I can do that! But I won't make it yell out, 'Hi-ya!' that might scare her." I had to agree that would be a good idea.

By this time we were already at school and he bounced out of the car, my plain one without arms, and he happily went inside -- who knows what he was thinking about then. And as I drove home, I had to agree Ethan had a point... there were a few things around the house that would be a lot more useful if they had arms.

  1. Gee, I hope when I'm an inventor I'm lucky enough to have the opportunity to work side-by-side with your son to develop the world's first Camaro with arms.

    I love Ethan.
