Every morning I hear this, "I really don't think I can go to school today Mama; my tummy really feels gross." It started out just hit and miss. Every couple days or so, maybe once a week. Now that we are officially at a week and half or so left of school, I am now hearing it every day.
This morning he already had his persuasive arguments ready: "I know I don't have a fever, but what if I get one at school? You would have to drive all the way there to pick me up. If I just stay home it would save you a trip, Mama. And I've already thrown up once at school this year, even if it was just a baby barf. It was still mortifying."
Lest I be falsely accused of being a cruel mother who forces her son to go to school with a sick stomach, I had already let him sleep in for an extra hour. Ethan was getting to school late as it is. I, myself, will get a sick stomach if I am overly tired. Having already indulged him a little bit, Ethan went to school today -- grumbling only a little about the baby barf episode.
Where is he now? Outside playing with the neighborhood, upset stomach long forgotten. Until tomorrow morning that is.
We can't wait until summer.

Haha... but have you experienced mortifying baby barf?
ReplyDeleteHa - I'm wondering at what age the switch happens, from "I can't WAIT to go to school" to "do I have to?" :p
