It's a girl!
We had our "official" ultrasound yesterday with the fetal specialist and she confirmed for us that the baby is, in fact, a girl and a very active one at that. She also confirmed that our due date is July 25th and that we will be having a C-Section. I run to high a risk of hemorrhaging if I were to try a natural delivery. I am also back on modified bed rest for the next six weeks until my next ultrasound. Hello bad hair and Food Network!
This ultrasound showed a very rambunctious and healthy baby. She loves to roll around and play with her hands. She loves to curl up in the very stereotypical fetal position and then kick her legs out -- which explains all those thumps in my belly. The baby also likes to hold her hands out in front of her face and fan her fingers in front one at a time like she is playing air piano.
From what we can see, she has what has become known as the "Houghton fingers and toes" -- long fingers and long toes!
I will never understand all those scientists and doctors who don't believe our babies don't form personalities, etc. until after they are born. As I looked at our little girl on the screen and could see her rolling and flipping all around, and playing with her hands and the environment around her, all I could see was a baby bubbling with excitement and life. Her spirit is there, confined in a small space, and I can already tell she doesn't like it! She is ready to take on the world. At the same time, I couldn't help but feel sad for the people who just don't get it.
Our little girl, to be named Blythe Bea. Her names mean Happiness and Blessed. And it fits.

Okay....can I just say I love the name Blythe? Yes, yes, I can say that. So cute!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to meet her!
ReplyDeleteAnd for the record, I will try everything in my power to keep Lee from calling her B.B.!
