Holy Banana!

We are now around 21-22 weeks along.  This is the time when the "age" gets a little hazy.  I just know it looks like I've swallowed a watermelon.

So here is what we can expect our little Blythe to be like and doing right now:

She is about 7 and 1/2 inches long right now (crown to rump), and I can feel every inch, especially since if I count her little legs she adds up to about 10 inches.  To approximate, that's about the size of a banana.  She still plays at night and is beginning to be startled at noises.  Once, my stomach growled suddenly and I could feel her jump.  At the same time, my stomach was making normal digestive noises while she was playing and the noises put her to sleep!  She also weighs between 12 1/2 - 15 oz.

She will be forming her little eyelashes and eyebrows right now and be setting a fairly regular sleep schedule about now.  To me, I think she is nocturnal.  I hope she grows out of that by the time she is born.  Blythe will also start making her own little antibodies to help keep her healthy!

Something fun I learned this week is that the baby is developing her tastebuds and so she is actually tasting what I am eating now.  Trust me, this definitely makes me think before I eat anything and makes me amazed at women who still choose to smoke or drink while pregnant.

What I love most for now, though, is that I learned the baby can now for sure hear my voice.  I love knowing that she can hear me now as I talk to her or sing to her.  There is just a sweet spirit that connects the two of us, and I am so grateful I can be a mother.
