The Biggest Catch-up of All!

I am sure that what everyone cares about is the birth of Blythe Bea Lawrence!  Blythe was born on July 9th at 2:25 in the afternoon.  She was 6 pounds even and 19 inches long.  The little stinker was three weeks early and had been putting my in labor for the last month and a half or so.

She definitely has personality, that's for sure, and I can see why she was so anxious to come prancing into this world.

My C-Section was supposed to be on July 18th in the morning sometime.  However around 11:30 in the morning on the 9th my water broke, so Blythe finally got her way.  We got to the hospital around a quarter one that afternoon and she came soon after that.

She was beautiful the moment she was born.  Her doctor held her up so we could see her and all she did was stare at the room around us.  Finally she looked down and saw me.  All I could do was cry.  My little girl was here, and even though she was only in the world for a few seconds it felt like she had been there forever.  All was well.

And I still felt like all was well, even when they called for the resuscitation team.  Blythe's left lung was struggling and she couldn't expel the fluid from it.  Jonathan and I couldn't hold her or have those first moments like bathing her or holding her just freshly new.  Instead, those moments came days afterwards when Blythe was in NICU.  Jonathan stayed with her our girl, though.

Blythe was put on a c-pap first to try to get her to breathe but she was having none of it, so our NICU doctor had to put her on a ventilator.  She was on this for a day or so.  Quickly our prayers were answered and it was removed and soon her IV.

Our little Blythe is a fighter.  She still has personality and anxious to see the world.  As I write this, I can watch her in her NICU bassinet where she is batting at the blanket laying over the top -- like a parrot -- in hopes she will go to sleep.  Just this morning she pulled out her own NG tube from her nose because she was tired of it.  They're not putting it back in.  Small victories for Blythe.

And she is so beautiful.  Our little girl, whose very presence is a miracle.
